The Black Sheep Institute is a not-for-profit ecosystem for outliers. We are set out to be the world’s most authentic institute, rethinking and impacting our global society beyond any status quo. Wow! (I know.) Our mission is to connect 1 million big thinkers over 12 narratives, learn how these narratives should and can be impacted – and do it too. Now you might ask – Why so big? How pain motivates us to go for global scale

Black Sheep Experiences are often a waste of talent, energy, inspiration, and motivation. We have found that all who work for the Black Sheep Institute have had them. We all have painful experiences from the past that motivate us to connect with big thinkers from around the world to have the impact they believe to be right, beyond any status quo, no matter what is done or is said to be done. Moreover:

Conversations going bad in the past is a motivation to connect better in the future. Being misunderstood often should be taken as a confirmation one has something to bring to the table. Being underestimated a lot, is a way of life telling you it is time to step-up your game. Your ideas being ‘off’ means you have something ‘to add’. And indeed, most likely, there is something to learn as well.

The new – fully designed, yet to be funded and built – web application of the Black Sheep Institute is the technology to allow that connection and interaction between outliers to accelerate their positive impact. This web application is where this ‘reframing’ becomes real for our members too.

How my personal Black Sheep Experience leads to philosophy and is  the source of my persistence, and you can help amplify the power of philosophy too.

Is it my persistence or my stubbornness? After so many disappointing and difficult, and painful conversations full of stares and discomfort, and mutual misunderstandings, the Socratic method was a solution for me. In a Socratic dialogue, you are allowed to challenge each others’ presuppositions and performative contradictions. Crazy questions are ok. In fact, you are encouraged to ask them because of the positive outcome. I not only found a legitimate and super strong way to improve many corporate and social interactions, but I also found a context to do what I felt I’d wanted to do for so many years. And I found it in a practice older than Jezus! Had I given up on bringing that value to many more than just myself, many would have missed out on pretty great, meaningful, and beautiful conversations. (Bold again, I’ll admit) And indeed – we would not be raising our glasses over the white table cloth at the 23-1-23 tBSI FUNDinner helping the Black Sheep Institute bring this power of philosophy forward even further without it.

So what did we do? Our Institute recruited a brain trust of eleven of the most engaged and motivated resources from all around the world to develop and design the Black Sheep Institute’s new web application with remarkable functionalities. No sweat nor effort was spared in getting to the best thought-out designs for meaningful interactions within the network of the Black Sheep Institute.

The prototype system was run over 1420 hours of testing and discovery at the cost of over €300.000 before ever being placed in an actual building/ programmers development area. In the ultimate test, we put it to 16 critical (or nasty?) questions, and 96 tricky scenario’s written by our team members and UI/UX expert consultants, bringing it to the quality and detail level it is today. With over €650.000 worth of research and development quality control backing it up, you are now invited to help fund the realization of this exciting web application. The web application of the Black Sheep Institute will allow and stimulate meaningful interactions through the internet. This goes through our to-be-build web application with ThinkTanks, courses, chats with Socrates, projects, and other exciting functionalities to interact with like-minded from around the world.
