This type of leader acts as a coach –which seems quite evident from the title- they would have excellent team-working and collaboration skills. There are a variety of coaching techniques that you can pick from when deciding to follow the path of becoming a coaching leader.

The method you choose will be based off a handful of things, some being; your personality type, which technique feels the most natural, the personality type of the person/ people you are coaching, the strengths and weaknesses of those you are coaching, and lastly your weaknesses and strengths. Democratic coaching 

This type of coaching style gives the novice that’s being coached a great deal of freedom. As well as teaches them several valuable skills along the way. Since the coach provides the beginner with the space to make a lot of the decision. And helps them understand why they should pick this. Or that instead of just deciding for them, it makes them accountable for their action. And teaches them to be responsible. This type of coaching is the exact opposite of democratic coaching. Instead of giving the client full freedom, they give them little to none. The coach weighs the options in front of them, analyzes the outcome, and picks the best choice for the client. All the client has to do is follow and understand the order that has been given to them. The disadvantage that comes with this type of coaching is the fact that the client won’t learn how to make their own decisions in the future; they are very likely to become co-dependent people.

Vision coaching leadership

This type of coaching is based on planning for the future and building towards something. A vision coach would map out the client’s future path. And give them a final goal to work up to and eventually achieve. The coach would pave the way for the client to achieve their goal by making them look at the bigger picture. The coach would guide the client on the right path so they can reach the position they strive to earn in life.

Autocratic coaching 

This type of coaching leadership is very similar to the authoritarian kind of coaching in the sense that the client doesn’t provide any ideas. Or thoughts about the decisions being made, and it’s all decided and controlled by the coach.

However, the difference here is that an autocratic coach would look for nothing less than perfect they would rigorously coach you. They would make you follow stringent rules. And they focus on discipline a lot more than any other aspect when coaching.

This type of coaching would diminish a person’s personality as they aren’t given a choice to do anything but instead, they are told exactly what to do and how to do it. Just like authoritarian coaching, this type of coaching would make the client co-dependent and irresponsible.

In conclusion, if you are a coach yourself, you need to ensure that the method you use is beneficial for the personality type of your client. And that you aren’t harming their personality in the long run. And as a client that needs coaching, you need to be very wary of you. Who you trust to coach you. Executive leadership, unlike some other leadership types, takes more of a controlled and systematic approach. An executive leader has clear organizational goals they wish to achieve; they are very well put together and follow a strict set of rules. That they have come up with to ensure the business thrives.

Their structured technique follows the sequence of jotting down a bunch of realistic that the executive leader hopes to achieve with their members then testing out methods that would help them accomplish these goals to implement these methods to achieve the goals.

When all is completed, the leader will set weekly, monthly, or yearly progress reports –each leader goes with whichever period they find suitable depending on their goals and the team, sometimes a leader may go with all three; it all comes down to a leader’s preference. – these reports could be one or all of the following:

Servant executive leadership: 

this type of leader believes in the concept of serving instead of being served. Many leaders mistake being a leader as a role where they should be obeyed and done by their team members. This creates a lot of tension between the leader and their team members, and it creates a toxic work atmosphere that may cause the demise of the business as time goes on. On the other hand, a servant leader strives to help each teammate reach their highest potential by creating a healthy communicative environment where all the team members are comfortable and are working efficiently.

Paternalistic leadership:

This type of leadership is a rigorous and authoritarian type of leadership and is considered somewhat of an opposite to servant leadership. This type of leader would be very demanding of their team members, and they would have little communication with them. It’s a patriarchal kind of leadership.

Authentic executive leadership: 

Authentic leadership is somewhat similar to a servant leader in the sense of it being an open, communicative relationship between the leader and the team members. In this type of leadership, the whole team, including the leader, strives to achieve one goal or a list of goals. It’s heavy on team-work, and it’s a very genuine type of leadership.

Executive leadership is an extensive topic that has been there in many different ways. And, therefore, there isn’t a specific rule book to follow when becoming an executive leader. You have to look at other organizational leaders’ experiences. And, based on that, establish your expertise but go with your instincts. Team-worker:

An executive leader truly believes in the statement ‘there is no I in the team.’ Take this example, for instance. A well-functioning machine can’t work without all of its parts; if even one piece is missing, the entire machine won’t work efficiently. The same goes for a team. If every single member didn’t follow the specific role they were given based on their strengths and weaknesses. Then the whole operation would fall apart. When working with a team in the business, the leader should ensure that they highlight each of the team members’ strengths to ensure that the company is thriving to its full potential. This specific skill is one of the most valuable skills an executive leader could possess. Communicative:

Any good executive leader should be able to put their thoughts into words. And express their opinions and ideas in a way that shouldn’t sound abrasive or aggressive. Interpersonal skills are a crucial skill that a leader should have. Whether it’s to help the leader communicate with team members to form a strong professional relationship. Panophobia, also called Panophobia or Omni phobia, refers to the constant fear of every object, person, event, or anything in existence. The word is originated from Greek, divided into two words, namely, panto (meaning-all) and Phobos (meaning-fear). The person suffering from this disorder feels scared of tangible and intangible objects as well. The mind is continuously bombarded by a constant fear of facing unseen catastrophic events. This type of phobia is considered self-inflicting and self-torturing as opposed to other phobias.

The patient who has Panophobia falls victim to victim constant depressive episodes and anxiety due to persistent fears and whims circulating in their thoughts. This phobia badly hinders the growth and potential of the patient. This person distances him/herself from people around him/her and prefers isolation over socializing with people. Besides this, the symptoms and consequences of the person exponentially increase with time and age. It reaches a point where the efforts of overcoming it become futile attempts.

The earlier the symptoms are spotted, the easier the disastrous effect of Panophobia. Once the symptoms and complications are identified, it must be dealt with by a professional psychologist. The person could suffer more if timely consultation and identification of the phobia were dismissed for a longer period. 

Causes of Panophobia:

Going through childhood trauma:

The causes of Panophobia vary from person to person. Some people have experienced a traumatic incident in their childhood. That traumatic incident causes complications in the form of fear in their mind. Some people have been abandoned or neglected by guardians in their childhood. This causes a constant fear of vulnerability to incidents and events of a mishap. 

Panophobia Transmission by genes:

Some people get the consecutive pattern of fearful thoughts in their genes from their parents or grandparents. Some families are easily prone to fears and whims of uncertainties and vulnerabilities. For this reason, the offspring get their due share of those whims and fears in their genes from parents, which later on, resultantly causes Panophobia. 

Parents’ fears being copied by children:

Some children adopt fears and phobias from their parents. The parents show that consecutive thought pattern of fears in front of their offspring, which later on, is adopted by their children. Thus, children develop Panophobia.

Research-based findings of Panophobia in terms of age and gender:

According to research findings of fearof.net, about 66% of females have Panophobia. Whereas, the males are respectively lower in the figure where 34% of males have Panophobia. Likewise, teenagers constitute a major percentage of patients regarding Panophobia. And the age group ranging from 18 to 34 is placed right after teenagers in the list Panophobia patients. 

Symptoms of Panophobia:

Unexplainable fears:

The patient tends to face difficulty in explaining the originating cause of their fears or consecutive patterns of fears to others. Those recurring phases of fears and vulnerabilities get too messy to be explained to a psychologist or a near relation. 

Social distancing and becoming a victim of isolation:

A state of hypervigilance:

The person affected by Panophobia usually tries to avoid people as much as he/she can. Sometimes The matter of avoiding people reaches an extreme level, where the person would even face difficulties in adjusting him/herself in jobs. During this state, the person produces the maximum amount of adrenaline. The state of increasing the production of adrenaline in the person’s body is a state of hypervigilance. 

Low self-esteem and lower internal locus of control:

The person who has Panophobia is subjected to severe self-esteem issues. The internal locus of control diminishes with each day. The person attempts to get escape from the phenomenon of facing fear and insecurities constantly. 

Extreme feelings of guilt:

The person faces an enormous amount of guilt with him/herself. Even though guilt is a normal emotion felt by every person, the person affected by Panophobia feels huge amounts of guilt for every action. 

Constant dizziness and fatigue:

The person experiences a high level of fatigue without performing any physical activity. The lethargy to perform tasks and chores makes him/her quite low while performing them. Thus, a state of dizziness and body aches are felt by the person who has Panophobia. 

How to treat Panophobia?

Desensitization:

This method of treating Panophobia is meant to allow the patient to confront the objects, events, and people that they constantly fear. The method tries to desensitize the person toward that constant fear of mishap in life. A gradual pattern to expose the patient to their feared objects and events is planned. The patient is then desensitized toward the constant and recurring phobias that arise from the imagined evils in his/her mind. The therapy method of desensitization has proved to be quite helpful in treating Panophobia. 

Cognitive-behavioral therapy:

This kind of treatment tries to study the recurring absurd and irrational beliefs by a psychologist or therapist in depth. The person then evaluates the origin of their one-sided and inaccurate beliefs. And then, the constant fears and vulnerabilities slowly disappear. Eventually, the patient is convinced through in-depth analysis and studies that their fears are irrelevant. The patient can fear those beliefs no longer. 

Mindfulness:

This method of treatment tries to convince the patient to be thoughtful of present moments. And the patient goes through several therapy sessions to forego the uncertainties and fears of the future. Likewise, the therapist tries to build stamina and temperament of not giving control to their fears and phobias in his/her mind. The therapy sessions turn out to be quite helpful in healing the patient of Panophobia in the initial stage. This technique might not be helpful if the patient had severe Panophobia. 

Medication:

When the conditions of the patient reach a severe point, then proper medication is considered. Doctors try to prescribe medicines that can help in controlling the rush of adrenaline in the patient. The medication is considered a last resort to the severe condition of the person. 

 Concluding the discussion above, the attitude of the patient must contribute to curing Panophobia. Elsewhere, none of the treatments would prove helpful in healing the affected person. Therefore, the timely dose of treatment must be made sure to be provided to the patient. If symptoms of Panophobia linger, it might aggravate the patient’s condition woefully. And the severe condition might reach a point where the doctors have no choice other than to recommend medication.

Rewards

A great motivator to any employee or person, in general, is rewarding a person for the work they have done once they complete it. When a leader tells their team members that there is a reward for the first person that finishes a certain task, the team members will surely work harder to attain that reward. Rewards can vary in magnitude depending on the task at hand. The reward can be as simple as an appraisal.

A simple ‘you’ve done a great job.’ Will increase the employee’s motivation making them want to work harder or as hard to prove themselves to the leader. This method could also greatly benefit the relationship between the leader and their team members, making it much stronger and friendlier. However, it’s very important to keep in mind that using this technique may create some competition between team members.

Now friendly competition never hurt anyone; it is considered healthy and a great motivator. However, the type of motivation you need to look out for as a leader is the unhealthy competition that may arise. This could cause tension between the team members hence disturbing the environment of the business and the relationship between the leader and the team members.

Transparency

transparency extremely important when building any business and in life in general. At one point or another in your life, you are going to figure out that honesty is key and that any lie uttered will eventually prove to be your worst enemy. When building a team, honesty is extremely important because:

  • Your team members are likely to follow in your footsteps or adapt to your way of leading, so you lead in an honest, transparent manner where you don’t try to deceive and manipulate your team members. They will act the same way when interacting with you, the leader, as well as each other, and that in itself could help avoid a bunch of future problems.
    • Honesty builds trust, and trust is an extremely important factor to keep in mind when leading; we will further be discussing trust as a leadership behavior as the list continues below.

It’s in our human nature to make mistakes, and it is completely fine if something didn’t go as planned when taking this calculated risk. After all, you can’t predict the future. So the best way to put this dilemma to rest is by owning up to your mistakes and taking responsibility for your actions.

By doing so, not only are you not blaming innocent bystanders, but you are proving to your team members. That you like they are human and that mistakes are a human thing to do so. If they make a mistake as well, they should always own up to it and try and figure out how to fix it instead of blaming others.

Trust

As we mentioned above, trust is essential when building a team, and here is why. As a leader, you expect your team members to support the cause you are working towards as well as expecting them to be working. But how do you expect them to follow a cause that is run by a leader they don’t trust? If they do not trust you and each other, your entire business plan will crumble to pieces. And will be as paltry as a car with no wheels.

Adapting to change in Leadership Behaviors

As a leader, you to be adaptable to your surroundings. You can’t expect everything to go your way, no matter how much prior planning you’ve done. There is always going to be an obstacle that’s going to block your way. Or just a random occurrence that you never even could have thought of. And, therefore, you need always be ready to suddenly change your entire plan based on the change that has occurred.

Trustworthiness:

Before we get into why trust is needed in the workplace. Let’s take a minute to discuss trust as a concept of its own. People of all ages neglect the importance of trust in any interpersonal relationship we may have, whether a formal or informal one. People don’t notice how much of a difference in the presence or absence of trust has on a relationship. Trust is needed in a friendship. In a romantic relationship, a familial relationship, and even in a relationship between a teacher and their student. Now I explained all this to help you understand the point I’m trying to get across.

You won’t take advice from someone who you can’t trust their intentions. Likewise, you won’t follow the lead of someone who you don’t trust. Therefore, if any leader wants to run a productive business, they need to be open and trustworthy enough. Their members won’t ever doubt their intentions and will happily follow their lead. It’s important to remember that trust isn’t easily built and that actions speak louder than words; therefore, you need to show your team members why they should trust you instead of simply telling them.

Integrity as Leadership competencies:

Unfortunately, nowadays, integrity is a trait that isn’t found in many people. Everyone seems to put up a front. Pretending to be good and decent people when all they are doing is manipulating the other person into believing that. The sad part is that these people don’t know that they aren’t good people but are posing as ones. People with integrity don’t do a good deed to get recognition for that deed or to get praised for it. A good person does a good deed because they believe that this deed will help someone out. Now I’m going to give you an example that describes people. And I’m going to need you to figure out why one person is wrong and without integrity and the other isn’t. 

Person 1 donated a big sum of money to a charity. Then went back to their workplace and boasted about said donation all day long. This same person made a bad comment about their teammate’s clothes or car. Because it’s of less value than their car or clothes, then treated the building cleaner with little to no respect because their job was below them.

Person 2 helped out an old lady with her groceries then bid the building’s cleaner a good morning later that day. They helped out their team members resolve some issues.

 Now person 2 is the one with integrity, while person 1 is the one without. Even though person 1 donated more money, they only did it for the praise while person 2 performed small deeds of kindness throughout all the day because they wanted to do so and not for the praise. Person 2 is a better leader.

Communication:

Communication is one of the most important skills a person could have in life and not just as a leader. The ability to communicate with different types of people while remaining professional is very important and the ability to express what you have to say concisely and confidently that manages to get your point across. Interpersonal skills are vital to have as a leader more than anything. Not only are those skills needed to communicate with your team members to maintain a strong relationship with each of them, but it’s also needed to discuss any business deals.

Problem-solving:

Problem-solving is an underrated skill that is essential in the workplace. Many leaders dismiss this skill and deem it unimportant but then are surprised when their business fails. A leader could have all the skills mentioned above, but without this skill, their business will fall apart, and here is why. Problem-solving is needed for two major things:

 A leader could have this fleshed out vision in mind for a business that is planned with excellent precision, but then when the leader wants to implement the said vision, all goes to hell. This is because this leader didn’t count in all the human error and the obstacles they could face along the way, and therefore, they would be unable to solve any problems that pop up along the road. As a leader, you need to be prepared for anything that might happen; your backup plan needs to have a backup plan, and if that fails, you need to use your logic and problem-solving skills to get rid of the problem or else you won’t get far in your business.

The second scenario where problem-solving skills are needed is to solve problems between team members. Some tension will inevitably build along the road between some members, whether it’s because of someone’s competitive nature or it simply could be a difference in opinion. There are several types of Leadership communication is each is used depending on what type of person you are. Of course, like many things, each type has its ups and downs, and some are more beneficial than others. But it all comes down to what your personality is and what communication type you tend to veer towards.

Passive Leadership Communication: 

Passive communicators tend to act indifferently when communicating with others; they often go with whatever the other person says. They avoid expressing their opinions and feelings when it comes to main situations. Moreover, they lack some self-confidence hence making them avoid eye-contact. The pros of this type of communication are that they are very easy to talk to in conflict as they tend to avoid confrontation. They are very easy-going people. The cons are that a lot of the times, these personalities are misunderstood because they never speak their mind.

Aggressive:

You’ll know an aggressive communicator when you see one. They tend to be very domineering and demanding. Thus, they fully believe that they are right, and everyone around them is wrong. They belittle the person they are talking to, making their opinions feel less. This type of person is very hard to talk to as they will always blame you and start-up conflicts whenever they can. The one good thing that comes with this personality is that they always make sure their point is heard.

Passive-aggressive:

Passive-aggressive communicators are considered very sneaky and manipulative they may seem like they have a calm, passive personality. However, on the inside, they are very resentful. Unlike aggressors, they don’t make their point clear by demanding attention; instead, they tend to sabotage someone else’s work and spread rumors behind their back.

Assertive Leadership Communication:

This is considered the best type of communication. This type of communicator would have the confidence to make their point clear to the other person but not in an over-bearing way that belittles the other person; instead, they listen to what others have to say and come to an overall comprise that leaves both parties happy. They are very easy to talk to as you immediately trust their intentions.

Important communication skills you need to use as a Leader

Several factors make you a good communicator, whether it’s as a normal person or as a leader, down below I’ve listed some of the most important skills you need when communicating with someone as a leader.

Don’t slur your words:

It’s very important to speak clearly and coherently when talking. You may think it’s stupid and won’t make much of a difference, but it makes a great difference. If you slur your words and shy away from your words, you would seem unconfident in front of those around you, so they’ll believe that you are unsure of your words. So remember to annunciate every syllable and speak clearly.

Be confident:

This point somewhat correlates with the previous point. You could be the most prepared person in the room, the one with the most wisdom and knowledge, and yet if you lack confidence, not a single person will listen and trust what you have to say. I cannot stress this enough; confidence is extremely important when communicating, especially as a leader. When talking, you need to fully believe in your words and your capabilities because how can you expect people to believe in your capabilities and words if you can’t do that. Anything you say will sound a hundred times more convincing if you are confident. So stand tall, hold eye contact, and speak your mind.

Be open-minded:

In a lot of situations in your life, you will be faced with people with different opinions than yours. You may think their opinions are absurd, and in your mind, you may think that you are always right. This line of thinking is going to lead you nowhere in life. Every single person is unique in their way, with their thoughts and own opinions, and just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean they are wrong. It’s very important to remember that the world doesn’t revolve around you, so you shouldn’t have the right to tell someone their opinion is wrong because, in the end, you are just as clueless as them when comes to deciding ‘right or wrong.’

To wrap things up, always remember to keep an open mind when talking to other people. Don’t just focus on your own opinion without hearing the other person out. Just let people live their lives without sticking your nose in their business because as long they aren’t hurting you or others, its none of your damn business what they do, even if you don’t believe that what they are doing is your definition of ‘right.’

Listen to what the other person has to say:

A lot of people believe that being a good communicator means getting as many words as possible in or excessive talking. They are mistaken. Good communication requires listening to the person you are talking to and allowing to get in their point as well as you get in yours. Communication is a two-way street. 

Be empathetic:

It’s very important to put your ego aside when talking to people. When you empathize with the person you are talking to, it will immediately make you a more trust-worthy person in there. Hence, when they begin to trust you, they will act more comfortable around you, making the conversation run smoothly.
